The 110 kV bay extension works at the 220/110/35 kV Songino substation were successfully completed. This substation is a key node in Ulaanbaatar’s outer ring system, connected to the Russian power system via Erdenet and Darkhan substations. It also serves as a major grid hub supplying Mongolia’s strategically significant mining sites via Mandalgovi, Tavan Tolgoi, and Oyu Tolgoi substations.
The scope of work included:
• Supply and installation of 110 kV three-phase SF6 circuit breakers and disconnectors
• Supply and installation of 110 kV current and voltage transformers
• Installation of 110 kV bus and line portals
• Cable duct installation and cable pulling and termination
• Relay protection panel installation, testing, and commissioning
• Civil and structural steelwork
The successful completion of this strategically important substation expansion significantly contributed to the stability of the national power system.
